Data Collector Definition for Land Surveyors
data collector—A device that operates in conjunction with electronic surveying instruments to automatically store data as it is collected in a computer-compatible format. The data collector can be part of a total station or can be a separate handheld unit. The handheld unit is generally equipped with a keyboard, which allows the user to manually input information and make some calculations while still in the field.
