Geographic Information System (GIS)—1 A computer system comprising both hardware and software that handle the collection, storage, manipulation, analysis, and display of geographic information. 2 An analysis and problem-solving tool for asking and answering questions relating to spatial phenomena. Its function is facilitated by computer hardware, GIS software, and the technical expertise of the people involved.
