Plan Definitions for Land Surveyors

plan—1 A drawing or diagram showing the arrangement at the top view or the horizontal section of a structure; an orthographic projection on a horizontal plane; graphic representation. 2 Any outline or sketch. 3 A scheme or program for making, doing, or arranging something; project, design, schedule. 4 In perspective, any of several planes thought of as perpendicular to the line of sight and between the eye and the objects.

plan, grading—A plan containing original ground contours on which the contours of a highway, subdivision, embankment, or excavation to be completed are superimposed and connected with the original ground contours at the edge of construction limits.
