power1 Capability of acting or of producing an effect; purchasing power. 2 A delegated right or privilege; a prerogative. 3 One that has influence or authority. 4 The sixth order in the celestial hierarchy; powers. 5 The number of times, as indicated by an exponent, a number occurs as a factor in a product; the product itself. 6 The property that a mathematical aggregate has in common with all equivalent aggregates; the cardinal number that two or more aggregates share.

power, resolving—A mathematical expression of lens definition, usually stated as the maximum number of lines per millimeter that can be resolved (that is, seen as separate lines) in the image. See also test chartdefinition.

power of telescope—The magnification of a telescope when focused for infinite sights
