Setback Definition for Land Surveyors
setback—1 Offset. 2 In zoning regulations, the distance a building must be set back from the front property line; the height at which the upper floors of a building are recessed, or set back, from the face of a lower structure. In tall buildings there may be more than one setback. See also line, setback.
