target—1Something that is or may be aimed at. 2 An object which reflects a sufficient amount of radiated signal to produce an echo signal on detection equipment.

target, photographic— A symmetrical pattern centered over a station market which reflects light from it’s surface in a uniformly symmetrical manner to where it it transmitted through a lens to a photographic emulsion, without detectable distortion with respect to images of adjacent objects or ground details; signals, panels.

target rod— See leveling rod.
