commencing, point of—In metes and bounds description, the starting point if not a part of the tract being described , e.g. “Commencing at the northeast corner of Section 12, T 112 N, R 17 W; thence southerly along the west line of said section 500 feet to the point of beginning.” See also beginning, point of.
